WELCOME TO
Orange County PRP For Hair Loss

PRP is a concentration of your own autologous platelets which have reservoirs filled with powerful growth factors and healing agents. It is “harvested” from your own blood. This is done by collecting a small volume of your blood and spinning it down to separate the red blood cells from the platelet cells. This resulting PRP is then activated and introduced back under the skin by a series of tiny injections. PRP helps signal your body’s own stem cells and growth cells to jump start the healing, repair, and rejuvenating process.

PRP is an excellent outpatient office procedure that helps increase the density of hair and slow down shedding and hair loss. There are clinical studies that have shown the efficacy of PRP. The presumed mechanism is that elements within the plasma, such as: platelet-derived growth factor, transforming growth factor beta, fibroblast growth factor, insulin-like growth factor 1, insulin-like growth factor 2, vascular endothelial growth factor, epidermal growth factor, Interleukin 8, keratinocyte growth factor, connective tissue growth factor help stimulate the immune and endocrine systems to decrease hair loss. PRP Frequently Asked Questions

What is PRP and What Does It Do?

PRP is a concentration of your own autologous platelets which have reservoirs filled with powerful growth factors and healing agents. It is “harvested” from your own blood. This is done by collecting a small volume of your blood and spinning it down to separate the red blood cells from the platelet cells. This resulting PRP is then activated and introduced back under the skin by a series of tiny injections. PRP helps signal your body’s own stem cells and growth cells to jump start the healing, repair, and rejuvenating process.

PRP can help restore Hair Loss by converting hair follicles in the Telogen (Resting) phase back into the Anagen (Growing) phase.

What different Methods of PRP Do You Offer?
We offer multiple methods of PRP which are:
  • PRP Using Your Blood and No Other Products

  • PRP + ACell

  • PRP + ACell + Human Follicle Stem Cells

  • PRP + Adipose Stem Cells

  • PRP + Exosomes

Acell- A product consisting of additional Growth Factors that can be Added to PRP to help achieve better results.

Human Follicle Stem Cells- Healthy hair follicles are Extracted from the back of your scalp. Dermal Papilla Stem Cells and Human Follicle Stem Cells are Harvested and added to the PRP

Adipose Stem Cells- Fat is harvested from the abdomen or behind the thigh and processed into microfat and nanofat with extraction of mesenchymal stems cells and added to the PRP

Exosomes- Originate from placental derived mesenchymal stem cells which contain micro-vessicles that provide tissue stimulation and wound healing.

How Long Before I See Results?

Results can become visible at about 3 weeks and increase gradually over ensuing months. Initial results seen are the slowdown and loss of hair shedding.  Less hair in your brush, shower, and pillow.  Over time you will notice and improvement in density, thickness, and health.

What Is ACell?

ACell is a product consisting of additional Growth Factors that can be Added to PRP to help achieve better results.

What Are The Specific Cells & Growth Factors?

  • Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF)—promotes blood vessel growth, cell replication, skin formation;

  • Transforming Growth-Factor-Beta (TGF-b)—promotes growth of matrix between cells, bone metabolism;

  • Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF)—promotes blood vessel formation;

  • Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)—promotes cell growth and differentiation, blood vessel formation, collagen formation;

  • Fibroblast Growth Factor-2 (FGF-2)—promotes growth of specialized cells and blood vessel formation; and,

  • Insulin Like Growth Factor – (IGF)—a regulator of normal physiology in nearly every type of cell in the body.

The powerful growth factors and healing agents in PRP also help decrease inflammation around thinning hair follicles leading to thicker, denser hair. This is great for patients who are losing hair and want to stop or slow down future hair loss.

How Many PRP Sessions Do I Need?

Our Protocol consists of 4 treatments in the first year followed by 1-2 treatments per year after that.

Who Is A Good Candidate For PRP?

PRP can be performed on any healthy scalp that requires the appearance of greater density. The procedure is best for men and women with early signs of balding patterns and hair loss. The goal of PRP is to help reverse the hair loss process.  It will not revive or bring bag dead hair follicles.

What Type Of Medical Conditions Will Respond To PRP?

Patients with genetic pattern baldness, autoimmune diseases such as alopecia areata or alopecia totalis, and patients experiencing telogen effluvium are candidates for PRP.

Are Women Candidates For PRP?

Absolutely.  Women who don’t want hair transplant surgery are great candidates for PRP.

I See PRP Being Advertised and Performed Everywhere, Why Come To You?

We often observe poor results with Patients having PRP done at outside clinics.  PRP is not a standardized procedure meaning everyone does not do it the same.  Furthermore, there are many ways to process and inject PRP and this is surely different in regards to treating hair loss.  Dr. Yazdan is a Board Certified Physician who has dedicated his life to treating hair loss.  He specializes in this field and has a vast experience with different methods of PRP treatments in regards to hair loss.

How Much Does it Cost?

This depends on which PRP method is being performed and how many sessions. The price range for PRP is $1,000 to $6,000 per treatment.

Will I need Maintenance Sessions?

Yes. It is difficult to predict the total number of sessions necessary to create the visual hair density our patient’s want. Typically, we recommend 4 treatments the first year and then 1-2 treatments a year as maintenance.  This can be discussed with Dr. Yazdan to setup a customized plan in regards to your hair loss.

Who Will Perform The Procedure?

All PRP treatments are directly performed by Dr. Yazdan.  We do not allow assistants, technicians, or RN's to administer these treatments.
